Monday 20th.  Another day of light winds, this time from a westerly segment,  as high pressure remained in charge of the UK weather, operations being off runway 24 with 15 ATs flown. After a morning of clear blue skies convection suitable for soaring became established by early afternoon with flat Cumulus forming and 3 private owners rigged and provided 4 launches, Tomasz Rusin having 2 launches with flights of 46 and 54 minutes during which he visited Thirsk and explored north over the North Yorkshire Moors to the east of Osmotherley.  Duncan Pask in his LS10 and Bill Payton flying his DG1000 solo were the other two private owners to launch, and while Duncan's flight of 1;13 was conducted locally, Bill visited Catterick, Pateley Bridge, Wetherby, Harrogate North, Masham and Helmsley in his flight of 2:53.  Bill also recorded the best altitude of the day, 5,300' asl, an altitude also reached by Tony Drury in K21 KLW during his 1:02 off the penultimate flight of the day, joining Bill and Duncan in having flights of over an hour.  The 2 seaters were kept busy with 6 First Flight pupils and Michael Cooke who  had 3 launches.
