Sunday 3rd to Tuesday 5th September 2017

Sunday 3rd. A moderate SSE'ly blew all day, gusting into the mid 20 kts, around midday, with 16 AT's flown off runway 20, four of which were for First Flight pupils.. Soaring opportunities were limited, but visitors Barry Kirby and Barry Monslow from the Stratford GC in their Duo Discus, showed what was possible with the longest flight of the day, 1:22. There were no other flights over an hour but there were 3 over 30 minutes, the first by Peter Goodchild and Ian Bateman in the DG1000 being assisted by a tow to 4k, with later Ian having 34 minutes solo in K21 JVZ and Sue Aherne 32 minutes solo in the DG1000, both from 2k tows.
Monday 4th. Monday again saw a predominately S'ly wind of light to moderate strength, but no flying was possible due to light rain and low cloud.
Tuesday 5th. A slow moving cold front deposited around 16 mm of rain on the site, in addition to shrouding the hill in cloud, this later lifting but never sufficiently to allow flying to take place even though the rain disappeared off to the east by lunch time.
