Monday 30th.  The depression that had crossed the south of the UK on Sunday left the site in a light to moderate E'ly, this slowly veering into the SE and strengthening to light to moderate over the course of the day.  The initial cap of cloud over the north end of runway 02 slowly lifted and, as the sun came out,  hopes were high that the conditions would improve sufficiently enough to allow flying to take place.  However, the sun was soon obscured by increasing cloud, this being low enough to rule out any flying, with the day being officially scrubbed by duty instructor David Watson around 1230 hrs.  David had earlier given John Marsh some briefing training as part of the recently introduced enhanced instructor training programme.
